This freeze merges the validated 8.0 App Grid theme and usage-tips work back into the main working branch. It does not include unrelated root-worktree dirty changes under legacy docs/ release assets.

Included Product Changes

  • App Grid theme system with 8 themes and App Grid-only visual switching.
  • Default light theme preserved; deep-blue and black themes use dark glass; bright themes use light glass over full-screen gradients.
  • Edit mode temporarily renders as the default light glass theme, then restores the selected theme after exit.
  • App Grid usage tips redesigned as a native split teaching banner with theme-aware glass, close button, click protection, and 29-language localization.
  • Usage-tips close reminder dialog with localized settings preview and optional "do not remind again" suppression.
  • Startup loading improvement: reuse last App Library snapshot and delay spinner.
  • Tag navigation double-click opens Preferences and selects the Tags tab.
  • Drag-to-remove empty-space preview remains based on the Core Animation slice effect from the 8.0 line.

Known non-blocking local QA note:

  • bash src/Scripts/window_logic_qa.sh still fails in its repeated open -n pressure case: the app keeps one running process, but Dock can retain two TagLauncher tiles in this artificial launch mode. A minimal runtime policy refresh was tested and removed because it did not fix the Dock behavior. This is documented as a follow-up outside the 8.0.5 visual/theme merge freeze.

Rollback

To revert the merge from the target branch:

To inspect the frozen source without changing the branch:

Notes

  • CODEGRAPH.md was updated during the merge to combine the pre-existing local engineering map with the 8.0 theme/usage-tips implementation map.
  • The pre-merge untracked root CODEGRAPH.md was backed up at /tmp/taglauncher-CODEGRAPH-before-merge-20260625.180346.md and /tmp/taglauncher-CODEGRAPH-main-untracked-before-merge.md before staging the merged file.
  • No DMG was generated for this request because the requested scope was branch merge and code freeze, not distribution packaging.
